Information
Management Services (IMS) supports the safety, permanency and well being of
children, families and communities by providing accurate and accessible
information. IMS supports three primary automated systems as well as a
number of smaller databases.

IMS
Systems:

UNITY - (Unified
Nevada Information Technology for Youth) is the Statewide Automated
Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) for Nevada. It is
used to record foster care, adoption, child
protective services, licensing, and other Child
Welfare activities. UNITY is used
statewide by approximately 1,600 staff and has
been operational since 2003. In 2004,
UNITY was awarded a Computerworld Honor for
Excellence.

Avatar -
(Children’s Mental Health Billing and Clinician
Workstations) is used statewide by 130
clinicians and billing staff to record and
manage Children’s Mental Health information.
In the summer of 2005, it is anticipated that an
additional 220 users will be added to Avatar.

SOAR -
(Solutions for Online Activity Reporting) is a
web-based reporting system used statewide to
monitor progress in meeting the requirements of
the federally mandated Performance Improvement
Plan (PIP). Reports are based on UNITY
data. Based on security levels, a report
viewer is accessible via a web browser.
Authorized staff can view selected reports by
statewide, county, office, supervisor and worker
levels.

IV-E Eligibility functionality for UNITY which will automate
eligibility determinations

Development of meaningful performance measures and benchmarks
IMS
Support:
Help Desk -
The staff is available to users from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The phone
number for the Help Desk is (775) 687-9010. They answer questions
about IMS applications, security, and system log-ons, as well as
questions regarding DCFS e-mail, printers, and network log-ons.
Training
- Two training sites are available for new users, for those needing
re-training, and users training for a new system. A 12-seat
classroom is located in Carson City, and a 6-seat classroom is
located in Las Vegas.
